Really, all I ever wanted to be was a wife and a mother. I fell in love with Terry when we were just kids. Really! We were married when the Vietnam Conflict was raging. I really wish we would have married right after high school graduation. We could have spent two and one half more years together, but we waited. We waited and watched as our friends were drafted, and many died. Times were turbulent for sure, but life went on, and we moved forward. We worked. We went to school. Then, Terry was drafted!
We were married on November 16, 1968. I really loved being married, and really looked forward to becoming a mother. It seemed like I waited forever, but that day finally came, and on that day, I was overcome with pure ecstasy.
I really love being a mother.
Some say: "If I knew having grandchildren was going to be so much fun, I would have had them first!" Silly saying, and I really didn't think being a grandmother could compare to being a mother. Well, live and learn. As this year comes to a close, I am now the grandmother to 21 wonderful grandchildren. I have never loved any group of people more than I love this group.
They are simply the best! Really!
This little Lyla, is missing from the group shot. She was finished with photos!
At our last General Conference Elder Russell M Nelson said: Our yearnings for family connections are inborn! That is really true! I really, really, really love my family!
