Megan Johanson
DOB: 06/26/06
Another Birthday
Megan Johanson
One of the June girls.
Jamison June starts the month with her birthday on June 3rd. Then comes Tara on June 16th. Next we have Torie celebrating on June 24th. Today we celebrate again, June 26th, little Miss Megan turns two!
Megan is such a love. Elizabeth has done a great job chronicling Megan's second year. And, I am so glad she has, because Iowa is so far away!
PS- Clayton Roy Romberg also celebrates today. Kinda fun that Megan was born on Clayton's birthday, since Elizabeth and Clayton became such good cousin-buddies back in their good ol' college days.

This just cannot be true...

Ten today! Torie Lisa Marshall is ten-years-old! Our first grandchild has been with us for over a decade. I remember so vividly the morning she was born. She was SO tiny, our smallest newborn yet. She weighted just a little more than a five pound sack of sugar, and was just as sweet. "Here's looking at you kid." Humphrey Bogart, Casablana (One of grandpa Marshall's all time favorite movies). And you'd better believe, he's looking at you kid.

Happy Birthday Torie!

***Dressed in White***
Tara was baptized today, by her father. Each Spring, the Statistical Report of the Church is presented at General Conference. Two months ago, the report was given. A total of 93,698 children of record were baptized in 2007. Next year the number of children of record that are baptized in 2008 will be presented. Tara will be one of thousands. But, for today, for a brief moment in time, the newest member of the Church was Tara Lee Marshall.

~It's great to be eight~

Tara Lee Marshall

06/16/00
It's her turn. Tara turned eight-years-old today. She will be
baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on Saturday.

I always marvel at the uniqueness of the personalities of each of our individual family members. I am not sure why I find this fact so interesting. Truth be known, we each come to earth with our distinct personalities. That's such a good thing. Life would be so boring if we were all alike. This little miss is definately not boring. She is one of a kind, and I sure do love her.

Happy Birthday Tara!

Happy Father's Day

Terry LOVED being a dad. He loved, and of course still loves, all of his children. All are married now (with the exception of Sam), and as each spouse joined the family, he or she was drawn into the family circle instantaneously. Terry's love just kept multiplying. Today, all of the boys are now fathers, and all of the girls are now mothers (with the exception of Sam).

~WOW~

Better mothers & fathers CANNOT be found.

"...with the exception of Sam..."

Just because Samuel is not yet married, and just because Samuel's children are still waiting for their turn on earth, does not mean Samuel is going to be excluded from this fantastic group of outstanding fathers and mothers. His day will come, and he will be one of 'em. In the meantime, Sam is "Uncle Sam" to thirteen, and soon to be fifteen, nieces and nephews.

A better Uncle CANNOT be found.

Flag Day
14 June 2008
I love our flag. Mine is flying high today. In March of 1959 Alaska joined the Union, then in August of '59, Hawaii became state #50. The 48 star flag needed to become a 49 star flag, and just months later it needed to have 50 stars. Years ago, when I was serving as Primary President, the Eleven-Year-Old Scoutmaster, Blaine Kemsley, would occasionally bring his 48 star flag to Primary. He would talk to the children about flag facts. I just loved that flag. About twenty years ago, I received a package in the mail and a note from Blaine. He wanted me to have his flag. Cool!

Saturday was a Special Day
What a gorgeous family.
The children are darling.
Dad is so handsome, and Mom is so beautiful.

~Jedidiah & Cyndi & Shannyn, Jonas, Karyssa, & Bryan~ What a great group of men. Jed received the Melchizedek Priesthood. He was ordained an Elder by his father. This was a VERY happy occasion. I just love the way Josh and Jed are standing with their arms around each other! Brotherly love! After the ordination, Jed baptized and confirmed Bryan. Way to go Jed! Way to go Bryan! Congratulations to ALL. (Update courtsey of Kevin Nealon)

click to read great article
"If you had already been born and were a member of the Church, June 9, 1978, you remember in vivid detail exactly where you were the minute you heard that President Spencer W. Kimball had received a revelation extending the priesthood to all worthy males." I do vividly remember where I was when I heard this news. Sarah was just six weeks old. I had just finished feeding her. I laid her down, and the phone rang. It was my friend Kris Scullin. She asked: "Have you heard the news?" Chills of excitement ran up and down my spine, as she relayed to me the breaking news from Salt Lake City. I never would have imagined this would happen in my lifetime. Twenty-five years later, Elder Samuel A. Marshall would serve his mission in Zimbabwe. What a wonderful blessing. As my Baptist friends would say: "Thank you, Jesus!"

Isn't this a beautiful painting?
My all time favorite artist is my wonderful brother-in-law. Bob currently has an exhibition (June 3 - June 30)
at the B.F. Larson Gallery
in the Harris Fine Arts Center at Brigham Young University
~~This powerful abstract painting is one from Bob's series entitled “Resurrection.” In this painting I can just feel the power of Christ’s atonement. The lace covered table alludes to the significance of the sacrament in our lives. The red, of course, is symbolic of the Savior's blood, which was shed for all. This painting has so much symbolism. I love it!
~~Bob's love is landscapes. All of his paintings are fabulous. Some paintings just take your breath away, while others draw you in and seem to beckon you to enter. I love his landscapes. But, my all time favorite painting is the one above. At one time, this painting hung in my home. It was a focal point and a fabulous conversation piece to any who entered. Many times, after a particularly hectic day of mothering, when the house was finally quiet, I would sit and gaze at this painting. My thoughts would ascend and peace would abound. It was wonderful. Today, the painting is being enjoyed by many others. Thanks brother Bob for sharing!
