General Relief Society Meeting

This year, I enjoyed the General Relief Society Meeting, via satellite, in the comfort of Loren and Sonya's home. It was a great meeting. Sisters Beck, Allred, and Thompson are remarkable women, and President Uchtdorf is so inspired and inspiring! I was uplifted. Because of modern technology, I can view the meeting again and again. I can, and I will check it out here.
Leaving Las Vegas
I'm on my way to Texas, to meet the newest member of the Marshall family.
She's scheduled to arrive this Tuesday.
~30 September 2008~
I wonder what she is doing today,
as she is getting ready to leave her heavenly home,
and live with us here on earth?

This is not a joke . . .
It's always fun at grandma's house! This is not even HALF of the stuff that Bradley wants to "mess" with when he spends the night. He loves his tech-toys.

Sam and I are heroes,
or so they say.
(Sam is not in this photo. He was still giving. He donated whole blood.
That takes a little longer, and you can give twice as much. Way to go Sam.)
Here I am after making my donation. Looks like I could use a pint myself. I've donated blood many times. Years ago, I was a regular participate in "ladies night out". This was before it was the in vogue thing to do. Ladies from the ward would donated blood, and afterwards, we would go out to dinner. Fun times.

Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan.

Happy Anniversary

to TRACY
Beautiful Tracy Lee Marshall
There are so many things I love about this girl.
I love the fact that many times people think she is my daughter,
and they think Tad is my son-in-law.
I love that she is SUCH A FAST LEARNER, and she remembers what she learns.
Early on, I gave her the nickname "Sponge".
I am such a slow learner, I admire her ability to learn so quickly.
I love that she never forgets any family member's birthday.
Most of our family members can hardly remember their own birthdays.
I love that she loves her babies.

I love that she is always willing to try something new.
(Here she is rockin' out. She concentrated, and she got really good.)

I love that she is SO funny. (I will delete this from cyberspace if you want!)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRACY.
I love you!
Here's the family, on their last trip to Africa.

Unannounced Visitor ~ Elder Jeffrey R. Holland attended our Sacrament Meeting today. He was the concluding speaker. He spoke for five minutes! You would think he would have be allotted more time. However, he was not attending our ward in an "official" capacity. He was in attendance, because something very important was happening in the life of his son.
~Elder Holland's son David, is a member of my ward. Today, David became Bishop Holland. Bishop Jenkins, has served for seven years, and today he was released. Bishop Jenkins has truly magnified his calling, and the members of the ward LOVE him. Now, we will look to Bishop Holland for guidance.
~I will no longer be saying: "Hi David", as we great each other on Sundays. From here on out he will be Bishop Holland. He will be a wonderful bishop. I just love this guy. When, he moved into the ward, I introduced myself like this: "Hi, I'm Sister Marshall, Tyson Marshall's mom!"
~Our Stake President, President Davie, conducted Sacrament Meeting. The current bishopric was released, and the new bishopric was sustained. President Davie asked Sister Jenkins, and then Bishop Jenkins, to bear their testimonies. Then we heard testimonies from the Bishops' counselors, Brother Nelson and Brother Davis (both have served as counselors to Bishop Jenkins for the past year, and they will now be counselors to Bishop Holland), then Sister Jeanie Holland was asked to bear her testimony, then our new Bishop Holland spoke. THEN, Elder Holland was the concluding speaker.
~Elder Holland explained that he wanted to attend the meeting just like any other proud (and he did say proud) father. He said that he just wanted to sit in the congregation. He said President Davie worked a miracle and got him on the stand. With just five minutes left, Elder Holland gave a sermon. It was the best five minute talk I've ever heard. He is a true witness of the Savior.

~I will NEVER forget~11 September 2001
Sometimes an event occurs, and you forever remember where you were when it happened, and how you heard the news. Because I am old, I have quite a few of these very memorable events ingrained in my brain. Today, I remember where I was, and what I was doing, when I heard the news of the first airplane hitting one of the Twin Towers. I was teaching Seminary. Becca Wood, walked into class late. As she walked in, she said: "Sister Marshall, a plane has just crashed into one of the Twin Towers in New York City, and they think it could have been terrorists." It was soon time to end class. I quickly headed home and turned on the television, and watched in total horror as the events continued to unfold.

This morning, I am listening to the names of the victims being read at the memorial service at ground zero. The pain and emotion continues. People who lost loved ones, are reading the names. Many times they will add a comment after they read the name of their family member. Some say: "We miss you." "We love you." "Until we meet again." I am thankful for The Plan of Salvation, and thankful for my sure knowledge of the truthfulness of the Plan.

The beautiful Conference Center, was dedicated just ten months before the attack on 9/11. I remember at the time, when I heard President Hinckley say these words in the dedicatory prayer: "Preserve it from conflict and acts of terrorism." I thought to myself, that is a strange thing to say. Guess not!

(Ann, Loren and me)This was a photo taken in downtown Las Vegas, at the memorial service held on Friday night, September 14, 2001. The little girl is the daughter of one of my co-workers.

Happy Anniversary

04 September 2004 What a fun celebration! Seriously, is anyone laughing along with me?
(Not laughing about Loren and Sonya getting married. That's not a laughing matter. That's a VERY good thing!)

Labor Day Weekend 2008

Off-Broadway... that's where we watched Ann star in "Pirated".
Once again, Sarah has posted details of our wonderful weekend.
Ann's performance was outstanding. She is one talented lady. The show was SO much fun. Watching the play with Katherine on my lap (even though she had her own seat), and Bradley on my left, and Baby Sarah on my right, made it all the more fun. They loved the show, and watching their enjoyment only added to mine. Thanks kids (young and old) for the memories
